Ultrasound Cleaning

We need to be better at cleaning ultrasound probes after use!
Using a Clinell to wipe the probe after use is sufficient most of the time -> Clinell packets can now be found on each machine to make it as easy as possible.
Vascular access: We MUST USE PROBE COVERS please!
Probe covers also need to be used if high likelihood of contaminating the probe with blood, pus, groin etc. If you are prepping for a messy trauma call E.G penetrating trauma, opening chest drains etc. please prepare the ultrasound with probe covers prior to patient arrival (where possible).
I know the probe covers are annoying, and not sustainable..... BUT it is much better than having to high level disinfect probes every time we use them for multiple reasons!
High level disinfection will be accessible for certain situations -> more to come when details have been finalised.
These are hospital-wide agreed on standards so all in-patient teams should be aware. If you see any in-patient regs using the machines in ED and not cleaning or using probe covers, please remind them of the expectations
